So glad it is now spring. My allergies, not so much, but the warmer weather I crave is coming back after a couple weeks of snow and cold.

Not been doing much stitching or painting most of the "winter", just working on my word puzzle books. Was too cold to even sit on the porch and watch the birds. But I have been out there today. The mallard ducks never left this winter, coming in to the bird feeding area to clean up the seed on the ground. We would even purposely put some on the ground for them. The wood ducks came back last week and they are watching the mallards, coming up to feed on the leftovers too. Too early yet for babies but I'm looking forward to watching them grow up like the past couple years. We have even had several Canada geese that stayed in the area this past winter, though at the lake near us, not in our yard. Even saw a gray squirrel a couple weeks back trying to raid the feeder. No sign of the flying squirrels yet but I'm sure they will be back.

Health wise we have been doing okay. Ralph still has to battle with his pain daily but we hope with the warming weather that will ease off. Me. I'm just plugging along, no better, no worse, which I guess is a good thing. Son is still fighting for his SSI though now a new group has taken over the MH clinic where he gets treatment and they are way stricter in getting things documented properly. He is doing well on his medication and it is helping him be calmer and less volitile at home. We are hoping that this new group and how they do things will help his case but it is up to God and the courts now. Haven't seen Rosa since before Thanksgiving as there is a rift between Anna and her dad. Anna wouldn't come down for Thanksgiving and that upset Ralph and then she said Rosa was sick at Christmas time (which I feel Rosa really was sick as there was a bad stomach bug going around then) so we did not go down there then as we usually would. It seems that since Rosa got her SSI that Anna wants to have very little to do with us. Sigh. Another family rift?????

Well I'm going to go sit on the porch for a while and enjoy the evening. Be back when I can and Happy Spring Stitching everybody!

Nice to hear from you Pam and hope Ralph gets some relief with the warm weather. Hope your son get his SSI papers as well and am praying for all of you.

The past two days were nice with Spring arriving but all that is going to change tonight as we are expecting frigid temperatures again with some flurries. I wish we can get some warmer weather but I have to wait until Summer.

Nice to hear from you, Pam. Hopefully the coming warmer weather will help with Ralph's pain. Your sons SSI has been going on for so long now you'd think they would just put it through to close the case.

Happy Spring to you guys!

Happy Spring to you, too, Pam! It sounds like you live in a nature sanctuary. How pleasant that must be. :)

Sending hugs & prayers for you all.

Thanks. Ralph is feeling better pain wise with the warmer weather. Now he has to worry about possible glaucoma as he just got his eyes checked for new glasses and they sent him to a specialist later in April. So we have to wait and see on that front.
Son has applied for SSI at least 4 or 5 times now over at least a 10 year period. Social Security just doesn't think his autism is "severe" enough to award him SSI. So frustrating. He would like to try some sort of schooling in computers but has no money for that and the way he has to take classes (can only tolerate part time not full time) he can't get any student loans either. Sure wish they would look at how long he's gone without substansial employment and just give him what he needs.

LOL. Not quite a nature sanctuary considering our house is only 35 feet off of a main state highway/roadway (Pa State route 38) with traffic wizzing by nearly non-stop during the day (it is quieter at night). But the porch we enclosed and often sit on overlooks the side and back of our property, away from the roadway, so it seems a lot more tranquil and natural. And the stream attracts lots of wildlife for us to watch. But for us it is just a tiny slice of heaven.
