How did you learn to ride a bicycle?

In our back yard we had a slight decline and then an incline. I would get on the bike at the top of the decline and ride the bike up the incline to help me stop. It took me a long time to actually learn how to brake the bike but I did eventually learn.

My uncle bartered for a Schwinn bike. It weighed more than my sister and I and that was the bike we learned to ride on. We had an empty gravel lot behind the house where we lived and that's were we practiced and earned quit a few gravel scrapes.:)

We had this bicycle that was passed down from my oldest sister, to my next sister, then to me. My bother would hold the bike up and run behind (while holding on) up and down the driveway. One time he let go and I was unaware until he hollered he was no longer holding it. At that point I proceeded to fall over. :D From there on I managed to semi-ride the bike. I never was a very good bike rider.
