Where did you live at age five? How was your home heated? What kind of car did your parents have?

I lived on a farm in Shickshinny, PA which is in the NE of the state. We had a wood fired cook stove in the kitchen and a franklin stove in the living room which headed the downstairs of our house as long as we kept the doors to the dining room closed. No heat upstairs. We had an old red pickup truck. Can't tell you the make or the model.

2 places actually. When I was 5, my dad was transferred from Coatesville, PA to Sherman Oaks, CA. We didn't have air conditioning. The windows were open quite a bit. My mom and dad had an old De Soto and a Corvair that my dad used for work.

At age 5, we had just moved from the small city of York, to the suburbs - York Township. There were lots of fields, no major stores near by but only about 15 minutes away. We had gas heat. My parents had a Ford Fairlane that was black with red trim.

At age 5, I lived in the house I was born in, in one of the boroughs of Toronto. At that time the home was heated with a coal furnace. I remember having a coal bin in the cellar (they call them basements now) and the coal truck would come with his bag of coal and pour the coal through the window into the bin. At some point it was replaced with an oil furnace, and still later replaced with gas. We didn't have a car.
